We really are “Two Steps Away”, thank you Ms. Patti… Paul Wharton Style

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Patti LaBelle. I went to her concert when she was in DC a few months back. I took a recording of her singing her song “Two Steps Away”. I was sitting here thinking about that song and how much it relates to each of our real lives. We’re all two steps away from something… Being Broke, Being Rich, Being Loved, Loosing the Love of our Life, we really don’t know… One thing I know for sure is you never know what the woman standing next to you on the train or the man in line at the grocery store is going through. If you have someone special in your life, a Brother, a Sister, a Lover, an Elderly Person, if you’re blessed enough to have a Mother or a Father that’s living, pick up the phone and let them know how much you love them.

My best friend Omarosa Manigault is in the hospital right now standing strong next to the man she loves, my friend Michael Clarke Duncan. I’m sure you’ve all heard that Michael went into Cardiac Arrest last week and Omarosa gave him life saving CPR. I talk to Omarosa several times a day and I still can’t even imagine the horror she must have been feeling as she was breathing air into the man she loves to try to save his life. This is what I mean friends, they didn’t know when they went to bed that night that they were “Two Steps Away” from a life threatening episode that would change both of their lives forever.

So, whether I know you or not, I want to send you some brotherly love with this message. I wish you well, may God bless you and keep you! Now that I’ve said that… it’s happy hour muffins… so I’m gonna go bless the people at the bar with some brotherly love !
