Episode 15 | Paulitics Live! at the Capital One Cafe

The Paulitics Podcast hosted it’s first Live Show at the new Capital One Cafe in DC’s Chinatown neighborhood a few days ago. The theme of the night was all about celebrating Lifestyle Entrepreneurs and I couldn’t think of a better place to hold the very special event than The Capital One Cafe. As a creative in a conservative town, sometimes I’ve felt that traditional financial institutions don’t understand how I think and how my business works. I launched the Paulitics Podcast to talk pop culture and politics from a creatives perspective.

Politics isn’t my business but it’s my responsibility as a socially conscious American and my interest as a resident of the Nation’s Capital. So when Capital One debuted their first ever Capital One Cafe just a few blocks away from my office, I wanted to go check it out. I couldn’t have designed the space better myself (and y’all know I can design some things). Here it was, the perfect place to co-work, catch up over coffee, do some personal banking and talk to the Ambassador’s at Capital One that can help others like me grow our businesses.

So that was that, I would host my first ever live show at the cafe. Next up, I’d have to decide who my special would be for this Lifestyle Entrepreneur centric podcast. The first name that came to mind was BJ Coleman. BJ is known as a publicist to stars like Kimora Lee Simmons, Vivica A. Fox. Method Man, Queen Latifah and many more. These days, he’s also the CEO of Image Elevators, a boutique public relations firm that helps talented people become brands. I invited BJ to come and talk to an audience of creative entrepreneurs in DC and he said yes!

From the start of the catered event, guests networked in the cool, loft like space and when it was time for show time, my Paulitics co-host Stacey Rusch and I were met with smiles, cheers and good vibes all around. BJ shared tips for growing social following and how to get a lifestyle brand in it’s beginning stages off the ground and into the press.

If you’re interested in hearing the Live show, check out the Paulitics Podcast on Spotify, iTunes and Full Service Radio. If you’re interested in banking in a new way that just might be tailor made for you, visit your local Capital One Cafe. If you’re in DC, pop into the Chinatown location and tell them I sent you. Ask for Charnae and relax over a fabulous cup of Peet’s Coffee.

Wishing you a fabulously successful 2019.

Best,
Paul Wharton xx
